Given their recent track record, I doubt that they are. Assassin #2 had a SKS with the scope held on with electrical tape. Everybody knows you should use duct tape. :>)
SKS with a home-made suppressor and BS scope mount. When I saw that from the Palm Beach golf course, I almost couldn't believe it. The GOP Baseball Practice shooter also used an SKS. "Entry level" cheap semi-auto rifle.
They are not so cheap anymore. Probably about $200 less than an entry AR. Not like the $89 I paid back in the day. There was a report that the SS agent fired 6 shots at 2 yards and missed.
You can pay close to $1,000 for a NIB high quality piece like the Zastava. The Simonov is really the ultimate militia rifle. No mags to lose. Cleaning kit in the buttstock. Flip out bayonet. Zastava's even have night sights. More accurate than the AK and makes a heck of a club if it gets down to that.
The American Rifleman has an article about SKS variants this month. It says the East German (DDR) made SKS is the Holy Grail for SKS collectors as the only ones available are a tiny number of GI bring backs from Vietnam.
The WW1 history book "To Conquer Hell" details how the Germans employed plunging fire by firing machine guns at extended range over hills. Spotters would correct their fire until they were landing directly on the pass or road, trails etc. often more than a mile away. A scout would signal the enemy was approaching the pre-plotted beaten zone and out of nowhere thousands of rounds of 8x57 would come raining down with no Germans to be seen.
Thanks for all you do Matt. Keeping us informed and keeping us thinking! Recently finished reading Enemies Foreign and Domestic, bought one for my son in the USMC. I think I will go out of order and buy Doomsday Reef next.
Hello Matt Bracken, l have read it 3 times now 👍 and found new nuggets each time. Gave away a couple copies of it to friends and family. Saving my pennies to buy the rest of your collection.
Pray all is well at the game today and with you also, been listening and reading you for several years now. Keep it up
Of all my 500 plus audio books, Matt Bracken's, "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" Trilogy is by far my favorite! And has been for at least the last decade. Awesome stories, extremely well developed characters and talk about getting your money's worth! The first book is over 25 hours long, ditto for the follow-on second book and the third book is over 27 hours long!
A guy published at Gateway Pundit dug up a contract between the Navy and a drone manufacturer located on the East Coast. Contract calls for drones capable of ship to shore, probably over the horizon etc. that could pick up and deliver large objects. Used as a dust off vehicle with small size and little noise compared to a helicopter, these might be the test models of a very good thing. Let's hope!
Speculation, they might have EMP projectors. Maybe an F 16 on standby. Forgot, navy so F18. Maybe they disrupt the gps signal. An F 18 might take one out simply by a close flyby.
Matt, I am getting a tad nervous. Your article the other day about drone and motorbike warfare in Syria should be a wake up call. I recall the horrifying images of a half dozen ISIS Technicals mounting twin 12.7's, lined up and obliterating entire neighborhoods or little villages. I viewed parts of the new Shawn Ryan podcast where his guest was presenting what she knows about an Al Qaeda plot that has utilized Biden's open border treason to place at least 1,000 cadre here, among us, who are likely training or grooming some of the idiots we have seen marching for Hamas. The attack, expected within months, will be a hybrid, modified from lessons learned in previous mass attacks such as the Mumbai hotel attack and October 7th last year in Israel. In addition to the typical commando assault with small arms, we can expect suicide vests and perhaps MANPADs. Also beware their favorite trick of a second trap for the first responders and investigators. Anyone who has seen the film "The Kingdom" would know what that would look like.
OTOH, it may be our military playing catch-up. Based on what Matt wrote and other stuff I have read about Ukraine and the Middle East, we are pretty far behind. Israel definitely got caught with their pants down on Oct.7 which was both drones and motorbikes. Didn't help that they had disarmed their citizens. Even here immediate action drill to get to a rifle is hard. Even guys that routinely carry will have a pistol with a rifle somewhere else.
Some have suggested that infantry squads should have a designated shotgunner to deal with drones. Won't work on the big drones but there are a bunch of kamikaze mini-drones being used. . Ideal qualifications are about 10 years of quail hunting.
A few of my own thoughts on the Second Amendment, which is the theme of Matt's book, so hopefully Matt is cool with me posting the link. Matt, please let me know if you would prefer I didn't.

Not a bad deer rifle either!
I priced a Norinco which is about the cheapest.

There was one on Gun Broker
It was indeed pricey
Secret Service is still under enemy control, which is what allowed the attacks.

Matt Bracken - I think you are the George Orwell of the 21st century. Let's pray this bit of prescience doesn't play out.
Thanks. I hope the USSS is on their game today, with Trump, Vance etc in attendance.
I read this series. Very good and very frightening. My introduction to Matt Bracken who I credit with the "Arm thy neighbor" prepping philosophy.
I first saw it in a Masaad Ayoob piece years ago. A lot of stuff that Ayoob pioneered amidst much criticism has become conventual wisdom today.

Thank you, Matt!
And yes, I have all of your books as well.
Maybe one of those drones will drop in.
I wonder what the anti-drone defenses will be over the stadium?
Seems like we can't touch the NJ drones.

Thanks for the reminder, Matt! Must be 12 years ago now that I read that book. The entire series are definitely important works.
I am nominating you for ATF Director. Short term gig for as long as it takes you to demolish the place

I saw that interview. There's no doubt we're being lined up for Bataclan/Mumbai/Oct-7 level attacks. Both in the USA and in Europe.
